Let's find some new MLB player prop picks today to kick things back off after the All-Star Break.
I'm backing two total base best, taking Juan Soto's OVER and George Springer's UNDER. Here are my two MLB player prop picks for July 19th:
MLB Prop Pick Today: Juan Soto OVER 1.5 Total Bases (-115)
Rays vs Yankees Odds - Game Time: 7:06 pm ET
Heading into the All-Star break, Juan Soto was on one of his classic Juan Soto runs. The Yankees outfielder had two hits (and gone over 1.5 total bases) in four of his final five games, raising his season average up to .295. He even used the All-Star Game to stay hot, driving in two runs, walking, and notching a hit.
The real key for me here, though, is Soto's history of success against Rays starter Zach Eflin. In 31 career at-bats against the Tampa starter, Soto has 14 hits, 10 RBI, and a 1.255 OPS. Eflin faced off against the Yankees in his final start before the break and Soto notched two hits.
Yankees fans (and bettors) will be happy to hear that New York does pretty well when Soto has a big day, too. The Yanks are 17-10 when Soto gets more than 1.5 hits in a contest and you can snag NY against Tampa Bay tonight at -170 on the moneyline.
MLB Prop Pick Today: George Springer UNDER 1.5 Total Bases (-155)
Blue Jays vs Tigers Odds - Game Time: 7:08 pm ET
George Springer actually got things going in the final few games before the All-Star Break, but even that run pushed his season average up to just .225. Springer is having an awful season, with just 17 multi-hit games (in 89 contests) and only 25 extra-base hits on the year. He's got as many grounded into double plays as doubles so far.
So, I feel particularly comfortable betting on Springer having a tough day against Jack Flaherty tonight. The Tigers starter has held Springer hitless in 11 career at-bats, with Springing striking out five times in that run for a .083 OPS.
July has been Springer's best month of the season, by far, but he's still only gone over 1.5 total bases in seven of his last 14 contests.
