MLB Player Prop Picks Today: Gallen To Continue Dominance Over Dodgers

Don't let me get hot. I'm 4-0 over the last two days for my MLB player prop picks, so let's add two more winners with my props picks today.

Today is a day of fades. My first player prop pick today is against Padres' Jake Cronenworth and my second is on the entire Dodgers lineup vs the Diamondbacks. Here are my two best MLB player props for today:

MLB Prop Pick Today: Jake Cronenworth Under 0.5 hits (+170)

Padres vs Rangers Odds - Game Time: 2:35 pm ET

Everything about this matchup is telling me Cronenworth is going hitless, and a +170 prop value is too juicy to pass up.

The Padres utility man has gone hitless in three of his last six games, and 28 total times this year. His last month of play has been his worst of the season too, with the infielder hitting just .252.

But the big reason for this fade is Cronenworth's complete inability to hit Max Scherzer. The Padres hitter has zero hits in 17 career at-bats against Scherzer, walking just twice in that time, too. He's hitting .000 (naturally) against Scherzer with a .105 OPS.

In his first two starts of 2024, Scherzer has allowed just five total hits across 10.1 innings pitched and he under has hit in both of his starts this year.

MLB Prop Pick Today: Zac Gallen Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-154)

DBacks vs Dodgers Odds - Game Time: 9:11 pm ET

Not many starters can hold down this Dodgers lineup, but Gallen is one of the exceptions. In 86 career at-bats against current Los Angeles hitters, the DBacks ace has allowed a .228 batting average against and a .617 OPS.

With Mookie Betts out of the lineup, Gallen's in an even better spot. He's held Los Angeles' two best healthy bats (Freddie Freeman and Shohei Ohtani) to just four hits in 21 career at-bats.

Gallen also enters this contest coming off his best start of the season, holding lowly Oakland to just one hit in six innings while striking out seven batters. That was his first start back off the IL, but he went right back to punching out batters and pitching deep into games.

If you take out the six-pitch start where Gallen left with injury in May, the righty has gone over 4.5 strikeouts in four of his last five outings. I'd honestly consider Gallen's alt strikeout line of over 5.5 (+148), too, a mark he's beat in seven of his 12 outings in 2024.

A big day from Gallen doesn't mean the Diamondbacks are going to win though, they're only 4-4 (-1.09 units) in contests where he's struck out five or more batters.
