MLB Same Game Parlay Jays Red Sox

MLB Same-Game Parlay Today: Red Sox vs Blue Jays SGP (+242)

We're honing in for an AL East matchup for today's MLB same-game parlay. A pitching duel between Kevin Gausman and Brayan Bello may seem like the recipe for a low-scoring affair, but I'm actually expecting plenty of runs.

Here are the three legs for my Red Sox vs Blue Jays same-game parlay:

Same-Game Parlay Pick No. 1: Blue Jays ML

Brayan Bello was supposed to be Boston's ace this year. But, turns out he sucks. Bello has a 5.00 ERA and 1.40 WHIP so far in 2024, allowing 14 runs across his last three starts (15.2 innings pitched).

While the Blue Jays' offense seems like it would be a reprieve for Bello, given their struggles this year, it shouldn't be. Bello has allowed a .389 career average and 1.024 OPS to current Blue Jays hitters. Bello has also lost his last two starts against Toronto.

Same-Game Parlay Pick No. 2: Over 8.0 Total Runs

As I laid out above, Bello has been brutal lately and he sucks against the Toronto lineup. That's a good recipe for runs. But, I also think the Red Sox could chip in a few scores for this over, too. Kevin Gausman is usually pretty strong against most of his opponents, but the Red Sox have been an exception. Current Boston hitters are batting .345 against Gausman with an .863 OPS. Leadoff man Jarren Duran, specifically, is one to watch for, as he's hit .500 against Gausman with four extra-base hits. All that hitting should help us over.

If there's one issue with this bet it's the trends. The Red Sox have been basically a neutral over/under team in 2024, but the Jays have been one of the league's best under bets, hitting it at 56.3%. I try not to let those trends impact me too much, though, and hone in on the stats that matter day-to-day.

Same-Game Parlay Pick No. 3: Vladimir Guerrero Jr. To Get A Hit

A lot is going wrong in Toronto right now, but Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is actually having a great season. The power might not be there, but he's hitting .280 on the year and has five hits in his last four games. Vladdy also rakes against Bello, specifically. In 14 career at-bats against the Boston starter, Guerrero Jr. has seven hits, four extra-base knocks, and a 1.605 OPS. That's the highest average and OPS of any current Jay against Bello.

Last time Bello pitched against the Jays, Guerrero had two hits, three RBI, and a homer. He accounted for half his teams total hits that night, in a 3-0 Toronto win.
