San Francisco and the Dodgers meet for the 13th time this season tonight in Los Angeles. The season series is tied 6-6 but oddsmakers have the Dodgers as big-time chalk. LA is just one game behind Arizona for first place in the NL West and, despite being nine games under .500 on the road, the Giants are still in the hunt, five games behind LA.

Happy International Left-Handers Day
Madison Bumgarner (4-4, 2.69 ERA, 1.25 WHIP) takes the ball for the visitors tonight. He has not seen a great deal of success against the Dodgers of late, with the Giants losing eight of the last 10 games he’s started against them. In his lone start vs the Dodgers this season, Bumgarner allowed three earned runs on five hits through six innings. Two of the five hits were home runs. He’s been excellent in his four second-half starts – he’s got a 2.25 ERA and opponents are hitting .225 against him.
The ever-dependable Clayton Kershaw (5-5, 2.58 ERA, 1.07 WHIP) makes his 24th start of the season for the home side. He’s been tagged with just one loss since April 25 and has a 2.10 ERA since the break. In two starts vs the Giants in 2018, Kershaw has a 1.38 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP. Kershaw has allowed just 19 earned runs over his nine home starts this year.
Kershaw is a Five-Inning Darling
The first five innings bet is becoming increasingly popular and one of the reasons is guys like Clayton Kershaw. The Dodgers are 7-1-1 SU on the five-inning moneyline in Kershaw’s last nine starts. Kershaw is dependable to be a factor in the first five innings, pitching at least five innings in all but one of his starts this season.
Bettors should note that LA has not been so hot against left-handed pitching lately. In the last 30 days, the Dodgers are 51-for-255 against southpaws for a batting average of .200, dead last in the majors. They’ve hit just four of their 23 home runs vs lefties here in the second half.
