Tigers Have The Worst Record In MLB In June

The Detroit Tigers have been terrible this month with a 4-16 SU record through 20 games and will host the up-and-coming Texas Rangers tonight. The Rangers have Mike Minor on the mound and he owns a 1.93 ERA in four starts in June.

The Rangers opened as -115 favorites (since moved to a pick’em) with a total of 8.5.

Standout Stats

  • Mike Minor gets the start for the Rangers and he’s been their best pitcher this season. He owns a 2.52 ERA in 16 starts and that figure only increases to 3.04 in his road starts. He’s also been having an incredible June with a 1.93 ERA in four starts and the Rangers have won all four of those games.
  • While Minor has been having a great June, Tigers starter Matthew Boyd has been having a month to forget, sporting a 6.14 ERA in four starts over 22 innings. The Tigers have dropped seven of his last eight starts and five of his last seven home starts.
  • The Tigers have been one of the worst teams in MLB in June and have a horrendous 4-16 SU record through 20 games this month. In the last 30 days, Detroit is hitting .239 (ranked 27th) while ranking in the bottom five in home runs (28th), RBIs (30th), hits (29th) and walks (30th).
  • When looking at the yearly stats for the Rangers offense, it usually gets a boost playing in Arlington. Well, it’s a significant drop-off when they play on the road as they rank 22nd in total home runs and 20th in hits and are top three in total strikeouts.
  • The UNDER has been very profitable this season in Rangers game with Mike Minor on the mound. The UNDER has hit in nine of his last 10 starts (average combined score: 6.6 runs) while it has also hit in his last five road starts (average combined score: 6.4). Only four of the 16 games he has started in this season have had more than eight runs scored.

My Best Bet for Rangers vs Tigers

Rangers moneyline

This bet comes down to two words: Mike Minor. He has been excellent this season for the Rangers and even in his losses, he’s still shown quality stuff. Detroit’s offense is abysmal and while this one could come back to bite me, I think any bettor would be hard pressed to back the Tigers given how poorly they’ve played this month.

If you’re not feeling either side, the UNDER would be a decent alternative due to the stats and trends I’ve listed above.
