Wake up MLB bettors, we've got Y/NRFI picks to hit. Instant MLB action is the way to go these days, so follow my best bets and trends ahead of a good day for baseball.
Here are my two Y/NRFI picks for Wednesday, June 19:
Pick 1: Tigers vs Braves: No run First inning (-130)
Matchup Preview - Game Time: 12:20 pm ET
Every once in a while, the Y/NRFI business offers a lay-up. Or a big alley-oop and a lane to the bucket. Just go ahead and slam that in. The dunk today is a NRFI bet in the Tigers/Braves contest.
Why is this bet teed up for us? Braves starter Reynaldo Lopez remains one of the GOATs at NRFI bets with a 12-0 NRFI record this season. Tarik Skubal, the AL Cy Young favorite, starts for the Tigers. He's 10-4 NRFI this season, and he's allowed just four first-inning runs in 14 starts this year.
Neither the Tigers nor the Braves have been crushing the baseball lately, so the NRFI best bet is easy here. I wish the odds were a little better than -130, so feel free to shop around, but I'm comfortable laying this bet at the current price.
[wednesdinger_:BET99-2374158]Pick 2: Red Sox vs Blue Jays: yes Run First Inning (-105)
Matchup Preview - Game Time: 7:07 pm ET
Let's get sneaky and snipe the YRFI value at -105 odds. Now the Blue Jays (47-26 NRFI) and Red Sox (38-36 NRFI) are crazy first-inning squads, but there's some dirt in the pitching matchup that suggests we'll see a run.
It begins with Sox starter Brayan Bello, who already has a first-inning ERA above 5.00. That increases to 6.43 on the road, where opponents have an .875 OPS against him in the first inning. I detailed Bello's struggles in our MLB expert picks, so that's enough for me.
You can look to Kevin Gausman for more first-inning certainty. He hasn't been a saint in the first, posting a 3.86 ERA, while allowing three homers and 13 hits in 14 starts. That's basically a hit per inning, so there could be some traffic in the first frame at Rogers Centre.
