Jays vs Red Sox Betting Odds July 13

Red Sox gunning for 11th Straight Victory

The Boston Red Sox look to solidify the best record in MLB with another triumph vs the Toronto Blue Jays tonight. The Sox are riding a 10-game win streak and own the best home record in the majors at 32-12 SU in 44 games. But that streak could be in trouble when they send Rick Porcello out to face the Jays as he owns a 4.81 ERA in 22 starts vs the AL East squad. Although Porcello has had his struggles against the Jays, Boston still opened as a large -180 fave to continue its winning ways.

SHARK BITES
  • The Red Sox are 13-0 SU and ATS in their last 13 games as favorite.
  • The total has gone OVER in the Blue Jays’ last four games against the Red Sox.
  • Mookie Betts and J.D. Martinez are ranked 1st and 3rd in MLB in batting average.

Red Sox Backers are Making a Killing as a Favorite

The Red Sox own the best record in MLB and have only been an underdog 15 times this season. The reason why that’s important to note is when they’re favored, they have been cashing in for bettors as Boston has won 13 straight games as a moneyline and runline favorite. Out of all the division leaders in baseball, the Red Sox are the most profitable team in 2018 and when you factor in that they’ve won seven of their last nine games at Fenway Park vs the Jays, bettors shouldn’t worry too much about taking the Sox at such deflated odds.

But if you have trepidations about backing Boston when Rick Porcello is on the mound, you wouldn’t be alone. Boston may have won six of Porcello’s last eight starts but that’s because the Red Sox batting order is so potent, giving him an average of six runs per game in support. The former Cy Young Sportsbook owns a career 4.81 ERA in 22 starts vs the Jays and has allowed six earned runs in his two starts against Toronto this season.

As for the Jays, they’ll send out rookie Ryan Borucki, who has already faced the Astros and Yankees this season and was impressive in only allowing three earned runs in 13 innings against those two squads. Borucki has gotten close to no run support in his three starts in 2018 as the Jays offense has only managed a total of three runs in those games.

Red Sox’ One-Two Punch Carrying the Offense

Mookie Betts and J.D. Martinez are doing their best Bash Brothers impersonation this season and are clearly the best duo in MLB. Each slugger is batting over .330 and owns an OPS over 1.000, and they have combined for 51 home runs and 128 RBIs. These are going to make AL MVP voters have to make a tough call because each one deserves the accolades coming their way.

Totals Bettors Should be Eyeing the OVER

The total opened at 9.5 and trends are pointing to an OVER. When these two teams collide, the OVER has followed as it has hit in four straight games in this matchup with an average combined score of 10.5 runs per game. When you factor in that the Sox are averaging over 6.4 runs per game in July and consider Porcello’s inflated career ERA vs the Jays, it could be another scorefest at Fenway Park.
