Gonzalez has been a victim of limited run support

The Nationals turn Gio Gonzalez (6-6, 3.72 ERA) loose against the Brewers. The offense has scuffled recently when Gonzalez toes the rubber, scoring just 11 runs over his past six starts and have been shut out three times in that span. On the season, according to our Pitcher Run Support page, the lefty has been provided with just 3.74 runs per game which ranks near the bottom for pitchers that have made at least 10 starts in 2018.

Miller Park hasn’t been a very welcoming stadium for the Florida native as he has a 6.43 ERA over four starts, which is his highest ERA at any ballpark that he has made three or more starts at. Similarly, the Brewers as a whole have caused Gonzalez some issues as his clubs are 5-4 SU while he carries a 4.93 ERA in nine career outings, but his first four starts resulted in a win. Milwaukee has struggled against left-handed pitchers in 2018, holding a team batting average of .222 which ranks 28th in MLB and is just 11-11 SU against lefty starters.

Milwaukee rolling in Chacin home starts

The Brewers give the ball to Jhoulys Chacin (8-3, 3.68 ERA), looking to continue his success at Miller Park. The Venezuela native has surrendered three or fewer runs in five of his eight trips to the mound at home in 2018 and his club is 6-2 SU over that span. The righty has been the beneficiary of solid run support with the offense scoring an average of 4.71 runs per game.

Chacin has found career success vs the Nats, holding a 3-2 record with a 3.25 ERA over eight career starts, which is his fifth-best ERA vs teams that he has made five or more starts against. According to our Pitcher Money Won table, Chacin has been quite profitable for bettors this season, earning $+562 based on $100 bets on each of his starts this season.
