Wake up MLB bettors, we've got Y/NRFI picks to hit. Instant MLB action is the way to go these days, so follow my best bets and trends ahead of a good day for baseball.
Here are my two Y/NRFI picks for Friday, June 28:
Pick 1: Yankees vs Blue Jays: YRFI (-115)
Matchup Preview - Game Time: 7:07 pm ET
I bet on a YRFI last night's Yankees vs Jays contest, and it delivered, just not for the reasons I expected. It was Toronto that came clutch, smacking in runs against Carlos Rodon. I anticipated the Yankees bats roaring loud and Jays pitching getting crushed. Nope! But we still won!
So, now let's ride the wave in Game 2 of the series, when Yusei Kikuchi (6-10 YRFI) meets Marcus Stroman (4-12 YRFI). Naturally, the Yankees hit Kikuchi well (.828 OPS), but it's not Aaron Judge (.780 OPS) who does all the damage. Watch for Gleyber Torres (1.005 OPS) and Oswaldo Cabrera (1.143) to do damage if they bat in the first inning.
Meanwhile, Marcus Stroman's 4.11 first-inning ERA shows some cracks in his numbers, leaving it up to a Blue Jays offense, fresh off its most vibrant game of the season, to cash in if Kikuchi chucks a donut in the top half.
Pick 2: Astros vs Mets: NRFI (-115)
Matchup Preview - Game Time: 7:10 p.m. ET
I wrote on this game for today's MLB same-game parlay, and I can apply some similar logic to our NRFI pick.
We've got a very clean pitching matchup between Ronel Blanco (11-3 NRFI) and Jose Quintana (10-5 NRFI). Both starters are coming off consecutive dominant performances and they now face a lineup they've succeeded against in small sample sizes. For example, Quintana cooks Astros leadoff hitter Jose Altuve (.185 BA), which helps our NRFI play and our SGP. It's also worth noting Blanco has cashed his NRFI in nine consecutive contests.
While Houston's .278 first-inning batting average is good, the club remains a reliable 54-26 NRFI club. The Mets own a lousier first-inning BA (.246) and lug their 56-22 NRFI record into a thresher of a situation vs Blanco.
