Y/NRFI picks are your new best friend if you want instant MLB action. Personally, I hate waiting for my bets to hit, so I'm all in on this popular betting format.
Here are my two Y/NRFI picks for Thursday, June 13:
Pick 1: Yankees vs Royals: Yes run First inning (-105)
Matchup Preview - Game Time: 2:10 pm ET
I must preface this bet by noting the Yankees are among baseball's best YRFI clubs, posting a 36-34 YRFI record and a phenomenal .392 OBP in the first inning. That'll play big Thursday vs. a pitcher they've pieced up before.
It's Alec Marsh (3-8 YRFI) going for the Royals against Nestor Cortes (4-10 YRFI). Marsh botched the first inning in his last start, allowing a first-inning run to the lowly Mariners. He'll now face the most potent offense in baseball. Yanks hitters know Marsh well, batting .333 against him with a 1.051 OPS in 24 at-bats.
Pick 2: Nationals vs Tigers: No Run First Inning (+105)
Matchup Preview - Game Time: 1:10 pm ET
Please, kids, do not be alarmed. This isn't a complete bet on Patrick Corbin. I would never risk my bankroll on such a gentleman.
Although Corbin isn't the best pitcher as a whole (5.80 ERA), he's been incredibly effective for our purposes, rocking an 11-2 NRFI record. How is an achievement like this possible? By far, the Nats have the worst first-inning offense in the whole game. Washington has a 58-9 NRFI record (offense only) and is batting .185 in the first inning.
That's fantastic since Casey Mize, the Tigers starter, hasn't exactly been a first-inning sensation. Mize is a very dangerous 6-6 NRFI, but I'm depending on the Nats' horrible lineup to come through. Nothing restores confidence quite like a performance against the Nationals offense. Let's watch the first frame of today's game and watch (pray?) as those two pitchers go to work.
