Auto Club 400 Betting Preview

Brad Keselowski holds down the lead in the Sprint Cup Series driver standings after the first four races of the season, but third-place Jimmie Johnson is still the favorite on the odds to win the Auto Club 400 for this weekend.

Johnson is the +600 favorite at Sportsbook on the Auto Club 400 odds for this week, with Keselowski, Kasey Kahne, Matt Kenseth, and Kyle Busch all at +800 to take the checkered flag at the event.

Keselowski is nine points up on Dale Earnhardt Jr. in the current driver standings, with Earnhardt Jr. sitting at +1200 odds to win the Auto Club 400 along with Denny Hamlin, Greg Biffle, Jeff Gordon, Kevin Harvick, Carl Edwards, and Tony Stewart.

And Stewart won the Auto Club 400 last season, beating Busch and Earnhardt Jr. across the finish line for the visit to Victory Lane. Harvick and Edwards were fourth and fifth that day, with Biffle, Ryan Newman, Martin Truex Jr., Kurt Busch, and Johnson rounding out the Top 10 drivers.

Truex Jr. and Clint Bowyer both sit at +2000 on the odds to win the 2013 Auto Club 400 at Sportsbook, with Brian Vickers at +2500. Joey Logano is back at +4000 on those NASCAR betting lines, while Danica Patrick enters the weekend as a +30,0000 longshot.

Brad Keselowski came through with his first victory of the NASCAR season and showed last year was no fluke as he took the Food City 500 at Bristol last week as a 15/1 underdog.

Keselowski is not near the top of the NASCAR betting odds menu this week either, as Sportsbook lists him at 12/1 odds for this Sunday’s Auto Club 400 at the Auto Club Speedway.

Jimmie Johnson has two victories at the Auto Club 400 and is the favorite coming into the weekend race at 6/1 odds. Tony Stewart and Kyle Busch have not won this race, but are just behind Johnson as a 7/1 favorite on the Auto Club 400 betting lines at Sportsbook.

Three-time Auto Club 400 Sportsbook Matt Kenseth, two-time Sportsbook Jeff Gordon and 2008 Sportsbook Carl Edwards round out the Top 5 favorites at 8/1 odds on the NASCAR betting lines. Kenseth has already won a race in the Sprint Cup Series and claimed the Gatorade Duel 2.

Kevin Harvick claimed the checkered flag in Fontana last year and rolls into the racing weekend at 10/1 odds on the Auto Club 400 betting lines. Kasey Kahne, Keselowski, and current Sprint Cup Series leader Greg Biffle are 12/1 on the NASCAR betting lines. Biffle is also a past Sportsbook, claiming the title in 2005.

Some of the top underdog bets for this race include past Sportsbooks Mark Martin (1998) who is at 35/1 odds on the NASCAR betting lines. Kurt Busch won this race in 2003 and could provide a big payday at 60/1 odds.

Martin Truex Jr. could be a sleeper bet at 35/1 odds. Truex Jr. is fourth in the Sprint Cup Series standings and has two Top 5 finishes this season.
