Jimmie Johnson will be looking for the three-peat this week at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the Brickyard 400 after winning it the last two years and he is the big favorite in this year’s race.
Sportsbook has Jimmy Johnson odds at +350 to win the Brickyard 400 and even though he has held no poles this season he has five wins and is in third place in the NASCAR standings, as he looks to win his fifth straight Sprint Cup Championship Series. Last season at the Brickyard 400 he led for the last 24 laps and beat Mark Martin by only one second.
Speaking of Marin he does not have good Brickyard 400 odds for this race, as Sportsbook has him as a long shot at +3000. Indianapolis Motor Speedway is one of only four tracks Martin has never won on (0-46).
Kyle Busch's odds is at +800 at Sportsbook, but in the last two races at the Brickyard 400 his best finish was 15th. However, Busch has been steady this season ranking sixth in Sprint Cup points and he has two wins, five top fives and nine top 10’s.
Sportsbook has Juan Pablo Montoya at +800 and he came in second in the 2007 Brickyard 400 and 11th in last season’s race. Montoya has yet to win this season and he has to start placing better since he only ranks 21st in Sprint Cup points.
Jeff Gordon odds are at +800 at Sportsbook and even though he has yet to win this season he has 10 top five finishes and is second in Sprint Cup points. In his last nine Brickyard 400 races he won once and only finished out of the top 10 one time. In an interesting fact the Brickyard has been won from a top-10 starting position in nine of the 16 races and the furthest back a race Sportsbook has started was 27th by Gordon in 2001.
Sportsbook has Denny Hamlin odds at +800 and he ranks fourth in Sprint Cup points and he has the most wins in NASCAR this season (5). However, in four career Brickyard 400 races he only has one top 10 finish (third in 2008) and last season finished 34th.
Tony Stewart as at +1200 at Sportsbook and he has won the Brickyard 400 twice (2005 and 2007) and he will be looking for his first win this season.
Kurt Busch and Kevin Harvick are both at +1200 at Sportsbook. Busch has not fared well recently at “The Brickyard” as in his last two races there he finished 40th and 27th. Harvick is the current Sprint Cup points leader and in his last four races at the Brickyard 400 he has three top 10 finishes including finishing third in 2006.
