The only thing that’s been the same in the last decade at the Bojangles’ Southern 500 is that there has been a different Sportsbook in every race in that time span. The Labor Day Weekend race is hosted on the 1.366-mile track of the Darlington Raceway in South Carolina and takes place this Sunday.
Sportsbook has odds up for the race and has pegged Kevin Harvick and his #4 car as the +600 favorites to take the checkered flag. Harvick first won the race back in 2014 and currently leads the pack in the Sprint Cup standings. The Chevy driver is just two races removed from his win at Bristol and one week removed from a fifth-place finish at the Pure Michigan 400.
Joey Logano, Kyle Busch and Matt Kenseth are all tied with second-best odds at +700 as this is some of the best parity we’ve seen at a race in a while. Logano is the lone driver of the three to have never won the race as Busch won in 2008 with Kenseth winning more recently in 2013.
Carl Edwards, the defending champion of the 500, is offering some value at +850. Edwards currently sits fourth in the Sprint Cup standings and has posted top-10 results in three of the last four races.
Jeff Gordon (+1800), who will now fill in for Dale Earnhardt Jr. the rest of the season, will be the most experienced guy on the track Sunday. He has won the race an astounding six times including a stretch where he won four straight years. His most recent win at the Darlington Raceway came in 2007 but the 45-year-old Chevy driver has not earned a top-10 finish as Earnhardt’s replacement.
