Kyle Busch Favored to Grab Checkered Flag in Toyota Owners 400

Kyle Busch is the favorite in the Richmond Raceway Odds.

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series goes from one short track to another as the drivers are ready to compete in the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Raceway. Kyle Busch picked up his series-high third win of the season last week at Bristol and is the +225 favorite to drive to victory lane in consecutive weeks.

Bovada has Kyle Busch as the favorite at +225 followed by Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano and Kevin Harvick at +700 and Martin Truex Jr. at +850 to round out the top five drivers on the oddsboard.

Standout Stats

  • Toyota has been the car in victory lane in five of the last seven runnings at Richmond and in 12 of the last 20 dating back to 2009. Chevrolet and Ford each had four wins to account for the remaining eight races.
  • The winner at Richmond has qualified inside the top five in seven of the last nine races and qualified in the top three in four of those.
  • Kyle Busch has picked up wins in each of the last two races at Richmond and has won six of his 27 career runnings at this track, while also finishing in the top 10 in 20 of those starts. The Nevada native has picked up three wins through the first eight races this year and has finished in the top 10 in each of those races.
  • Kevin Harvick has had some good runs at this track but has only driven to victory lane three times over 36 starts and hasn’t been there since 2013. The California native has finished in the top five in five of the last six races, including being the runner-up in the last race at Richmond in September of last year. Harvick has yet to earn a checkered flag this season and has just three top-five finishes through the eight races thus far.
  • Stay away from Brad Keselowski at +700 as there hasn’t been tremendous success at Richmond for the Michigan native. Keselowski won the 2014 fall race at this track, but has finished outside the top five in six of the eight races since and overall has found himself in the top 10 under 50 percent of his 19 career starts there.
  • Chase Elliott is once again providing great value at +1400. The Georgia native has only gotten better as he’s gained more experience at Richmond. He began his career by finishing outside the top 15 in three of his first four runnings there, but has finished 10th or better in the last three and inside the top five in the last two, including a second-place finish in April of last year. Additionally, the 24-year-old led 34 laps in the 2018 fall race, the first time he was in the top spot at Richmond.

My Best Bet for the Toyota Owners 400

Chase Elliott +1400

I think Chase, the son of Hall of Famer Bill Elliott, is going to pick up his first win of the season. He was really competitive at this track last year, finishing inside the top five in both races, including being the runner-up behind Kyle Busch in the spring race, while leading his first laps in the fall running. Elliott also finished second three weeks ago at another short track at Martinsville, leading 49 laps in that race.
