Kyle Busch Has Top Odds To Win Camping World 400

Odds to win the Camping World 400

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series returns to a more conventional oval track following the Toyota/Save Mart 350 at the road course Sonoma Raceway last week. Martin Truex Jr. collected his fourth checkered flag of the season, matching him with Kyle Busch for the season high.

Truex has odds of +650 to win back-to-back races this week at Chicagoland Speedway in the Camping World 400. However, it is Busch with odds of +325 topping the oddsboard aiming to win consecutive Chicagoland races.

Online sportsbook Intertops has Busch as the favorite at +325 followed by Kevin Harvick at +450, Truex at +650, Joey Logano at +800, Brad Keselowski at +850, Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson at +1000 and Denny Hamlin at +1800 to round out the top drivers on the oddsboard.

Standout Stats

  • Toyota has dominated Chicagoland Speedway, winning the last four races there and seven of the last 11. Ford has just one victory all-time at this track and Chevrolet hasn’t won there since 2011.
  • Kyle Busch won last year’s race at Chicagoland Speedway and looks to become the third driver to win back-to-back runnings at this track. Kevin Harvick was the first to do it in 2001 and 2002 and the second was Martin Truex Jr. in 2016 and 2017.
  • There has only been one driver to win the pole and go on to win on Sunday over 18 races at Chicagoland Speedway and it was Kyle Busch in 2008. The average starting position for the winner is 14.94.
  • Kyle Busch (+325) has led 20 or more laps in each of the last six runnings at this track, with three poles and one victory over that span. That being said, he has just two podium finishes over the last 10 races at Chicagoland Speedway.
  • Kevin Harvick (+450) won the first two races at Chicagoland Speedway in 2001 and 2002 but hasn’t grabbed a checkered flag there since. After moving to Ford in 2017, he has back-to-back third-place finishes, leading 98 combined laps over those races. Harvick hasn’t driven to victory lane yet in 2019 and I continue to avoid betting on him until he shows some challenge again.
  • Martin Truex Jr. (+650) has won two of the last three races at this track and drove from a starting place of 36th last year to finish fourth, but failed to lead a lap. After a slow start to the season in which he didn’t earn a win through the first eight races, he has found victory lane in four of the last eight.
  • Joey Logano (+800) has led just two laps over the last five races at Chicagoland Speedway and has one podium finish over his 10 career starts at this track. Although he has had a lot of speed at 1.5-mile tri-ovals this season, I’m not sure Chicagoland is a track you want to back him at.
  • Chase Elliott (+1000) performed well at Chicagoland in his first two career starts, finishing third and second respectively. Last year, he had his best qualifying effort, starting third, but finished one lap down and in 19th place. The car got away from him but his past success suggests there is value on Elliott.

My Best Bets for the Camping World 400

Martin Truex Jr. (+650)

Truex has been absolutely on fire recently, winning half of the last eight races, and has won two of the last three runnings at Chicagoland Speedway. He was able to move up 32 positions in last year’s race, from 36th to fourth, and I think he’s in a groove and should be able to find himself near the front of the pack late in the race on Sunday.

Chase Elliott (+1000)

Elliott had two podium finishes in his first two races at Chicagoland and led 117 laps in those starts, but last year he finished one lap down and 19th despite his best qualifying effort at the track. I think that last year was a bit of an aberration and he will be back in full force this weekend.
