The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series kicks back into high gear this Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 and Kevin Harvick is the betting favorite at +285 to take his fourth checkered flag of the season.
Online sportsbook Sportsbook has Harvick at the top of their oddsboard followed by Martin Truex Jr. at +400, Kyle Busch at +450, Kyle Larson at +750, Brad Keselowski at +850, Joey Logano at +1350, Chase Elliott, Denny Hamlin and Ryan Blaney at +1650, and Jimmie Johnson at +2250 to round out the top 10.
Is Harvick worth the investment at +285?
Kevin Harvick may not be in the lead in the Monster Energy Cup standings but he has been the star of the circuit after six races. No. 4 posted three straight wins, with an additional top-five finish, and has won each race this season when he was the betting favorite.
While he has not won at this track previously, it’s worth noting he has two top-five finishes in the last four years in this race. If you plan to wager on one of the top dogs, Harvick may be the best option given his history.
Other Drivers to Consider at O’Reilly Auto Parts 500
Martin Truex Jr. at +400 may be another safe option with one win and five top-five finishes overall. Truex is the reigning Monster Energy NASCAR Cup champion and has finished in the top 10 in five of the last six years at this track but has yet to break through at Texas Motor Speedway with his best finish in 2012 at second place.
Last year’s Sportsbook Jimmie Johnson can be had at +2250 and has historically done well at this track. Johnson has two wins (2015 and 2017) and has finished in the top 10 at Texas Motor Speedway in 14 of his 17 seasons on the circuit.
Clint Bowyer is the most recent Sportsbook on the season at the STP 500 and offers decent value at +3300. However, recent history has not been kind to the NASCAR veteran as last Sunday’s win was his first checkered flag since 2012.
