NASCAR: Odds to win STP 500

NASCAR STP 500 Betting Odds

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series shifts back into high gear this Sunday for the STP 500 at Martinsville Speedway and Kyle Busch is listed as the odds-on favorite at +375 to take his first checkered flag of the season.

For the first time in four races, a driver other than Kevin Harvick is at the top of the oddsboard. Harvick is currently at +850, which is seventh on the list at Bovada. Busch is followed by Brad Keselowski at +450, Denny Hamlin at +550, Joey Logano at +750, Chase Elliott and Martin Truex Jr. at +800, Harvick, Jimmie Johnson at +1200, Clint Bowyer at +1300 and Kyle Larson at +2200 to round out the top 10.

Will Kyle Busch or Brad Keselowski snag their first win of the season?

These two drivers have finished at the top of the podium at this track in the last two years, with Keselowski winning in 2017 and Busch taking it in 2016.

At the current odds, Busch wouldn’t be a terrible investment considering he has finished in the top three in the last three races this season. This is also his longest drought of not winning a race since last July before he reeled off five wins in 16 races to close the season, so he may be due.

Keselowski, meanwhile, has finished in the top 10 in five of the last six years at this track but is racing against history, as a driver hasn’t won at Martinsville Speedway in back-to-back years since Rusty Wallace did it four years in a row from 1993 to 1996.

Martin Truex Jr. is making his push for the Cup Championship

Last year’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup champion finally broke through and won his first race of the season last Sunday at the Auto Club 400 and now sits in first in the standings. Truex has not won at this track, with his best finishes being a pair of fifths, in 2010 and 2012.

That being said, since the start of August 2017, Truex has been statistically the best driver on the circuit, winning six of 20 races and finishing in the top 10 in 16 of them. At +800, this may be a steal.

Is any other driver worth betting on?

If bettors are using historical data for their pick, then they can’t go wrong with Denny Hamlin at +550. No. 11 has won at this track in 2008, 2010 and 2015 along with two more top-10 finishes in the last 10 years.

But if you’re looking for a dark horse to wager on, Ryan Newman at +5000 may be the best option considering he won at this track in 2012.
