Dale Earnhardt Jr. has paid out for NASCAR bettors in two of the last three races at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond as he looks to take the checkered flag at the track once again on Sunday afternoon in the Windows 10 400.
Earnhardt Jr. was the Sportsbook of the August race at Pocono last season, when it was called the GoBowling.com 400, finishing first ahead of Kevin Harvick and Joey Logano at the event. Clint Bowyer, Greg Biffle, Jeff Gordon, Jamie McMurray, Ryan Newman, Denny Hamlin, and Kasey Kahne made up the rest of the Top 10 drivers that day.
And Earnhardt Jr. also won the Pocono 400 at the track in June 2014, with Brad Keselowski and Kurt Busch ending up second and third that day. Hamlin, Kyle Larson, Jimmie Johnson, Newman, Gordon, Martin Truex Jr., and McMurray also turned in Top-10 results at the 2014 Pocono 400.
This past June, however, it was Truex Jr. that visited Victory Lane at Pocono, holding off Harvick and Johnson to win the Axalta We Paint Sportsbooks 400. Logano, Kurt Busch, Matt Kenseth, McMurray, Larson, Kyle Busch, and Hamlin ended up fourth through 10th, while Earnhardt Jr. was 11th.
The two 2013 races at Pocono were won by Johnson and Kahne, with Logano and Gordon the champions at the two events at the track in the 2012 season. Gordon and Keselowski were Pocono Sportsbooks in the two 2011 races.
Heading into the month of August it's Harvick who continues to hold down the lead in the Sprint Cup Series driver standings, with Logano 69 points behind in second place and Earnhardt Jr. 100 points behind in third place. Johnson and Truex Jr. round out the Top 5 of the updated standings.
Johnson and Kyle Busch then hold the series lead with four victories apiece through the first 20 races of the season - although Busch has picked up those four victories in just nine starts. Harvick, Earnhardt Jr., and Kurt Busch each have two wins so far in 2015, while six other drivers have one each.
