Odds to win the AAA Texas 500: Kevin Harvick leads the pack

Odds to win the AAA Texas 500

The penultimate race in the Round of 8 has the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series traveling to Texas Motor Speedway for the AAA Texas 500. Kyle Busch drove to victory lane when they competed at Texas in April but it is Kevin Harvick who has the best odds at +275 to grab the checkered flag this weekend.

BetOnline has Harvick atop the oddsboard at +275 followed by Kyle Busch at +325, Martin Truex Jr. at +400, and Brad Keselowski and Kyle Larson at +700 to round out the top five drivers.

Harvick has been strong at Texas recently

Kevin Harvick is in a tie with Kyle Busch for the most wins this season with seven, but he hasn’t driven to victory lane since mid-August. The California native has qualified in the top three in seven of the last nine races at Texas, including the last four in a row, and has finished on the podium in five of the last eight runnings there, including winning last year’s fall race. The 42-year-old had a second-place finish when the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series visited Texas in April, leading 87 laps. Overall, Harvick has 19 top-10 finishes through his 31 career starts at this track, including nine top-five finishes, so it comes as no surprise that he is the favorite to return to victory lane.

Can Busch complete the season sweep in the Lone Star State?

When the Cup Series took on Texas in April, Kyle Busch put on an impressive performance, leading 116 of the 334 laps en route to his third career victory at this track. The Nevada native now looks to become the first driver to win back-to-back races at Texas since Jimmie Johnson won three in a row from 2014 to 2015. Busch has finished inside the top five in 12 of his 25 career starts in Fort Worth, including eight of the last 11 runnings there. The 33-year-old has a 46-point lead over the bubble spot, fifth-place Kurt Busch, so the pressure isn’t entirely on him but at +325 I think he can win back to back in Texas.

Sleeper Pick: Joey Logano

The only driver to punch his ticket into the season finale at Homestead-Miami is Joey Logano after grabbing the checkered flag last week at Martinsville. The Connecticut native has been strong in Fort Worth in his career, earning eight top-five finishes out of his 20 career starts there, and picked up a win in 2014 after leading 108 laps. The 28-year-old has finished seventh or better in nine of the last 11 races at Texas, including each of the last five runnings there, but only has the one victory back in 2014. At +1200, Logano is a nice sleeper pick who has had success in the Lone Star State and with the pressure off having already clinched his spot in the Round of 4, he may be poised to grab another checkered flag.
