76ers vs Warriors Odds & Picks: GSW Flailing Right Now

The Golden State Warriors hope 2024 is much kinder than the end of 2024, when the club lost 13 of its last 17 games. Now, the Warriors are 3.0-point favorites at home vs the Philadelphia 76ers, whose success may hinge on Joel Embiid's injury status. The UNDER 217 points is juiced at -112.

While the 76ers have not yet released an injury report, Embiid is expected to suit up for Philly after sitting during Wednesday's game. Read on for our 76ers vs Warriors preview, plus odds and picks for Jan. 2, 2025.

76ers vs Warriors Picks Today

Golden State's downward spiral is notable. It's now four losses in the last five games and 13 Ls in 17 contest, as I mentioned earlier. On top of it all, Steph Curry is questionable for Thursday's contest with a thumb sprain. Even if he's active, there's a chance he's not at 100%. On the flip side, Embiid may play for the 76ers, but Paul George will likely rest as a product of the back-to-back contests. It's one star up, one star down in the modern NBA.

The stats suggest Golden State might be in trouble, though. The squad is 4-7 ATS as a home favorite this season, and Curry's absence will loom large for the Warriors who lack serious direction right now.

If Embiid goes (and I expect him to), I'll happily take the points on Philly. Tyrese Maxey has been excellent, and even without George, this 76ers team has more life than it did earlier in the year. It may still be a circus in The City of Brotherly Love, but this 76ers squad shines every so often. Thursday could be the perfect time for a road cover.

76ers vs Warriors News

The Warriors are facing a challenging period, having lost 13 of their last 17 games. In response, Curry convened a players-only meeting before their Christmas Day game against the Los Angeles Lakers, emphasizing that the team was at a pivotal point in the season. Obviously, that didn't make a difference, as GSW lost anyway.

“Our last 14 games, it’s just been tough trying to find any type of momentum or consistency, and through that, you just can’t lose spirit and belief that we’re a good enough team," Curry said, partway through the losing skid.

GSW is searching for a spark right now. We'll see how things go vs Philly.
