Odds on the Houston Rockets Breaking the Franchise Record for Consecutive Wins

James Harden Chris Paul NBA

The Golden State Warriors have owned the NBA Western Conference in recent memory, which has caused many people to criticize the league for its lack of parity. The stacked Dubs are once again dominating in 2017-18, but one team has outshined them in their own conference: the Houston Rockets.

James Harden has become the runaway favorite to win the NBA MVP Award.

In light of a 110-99 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on March 7, the Rockets pushed their winning streak to a ridiculous 17 games while improving to 51-13 SU in the process. Houston’s franchise record of 22 consecutive wins came in the 2007-08 campaign, when the likes of Yao Ming, Tracy McGrady and Ron Artest (before he became Metta World Peace) were roaming the floor in H-Town.

BetOnline has released odds on whether the current Rockets will break the record, with the YES option coming in at +500 odds and the NO available for a steep price of -800. Houston hasn’t lost since January 26, when it fell on the road to the New Orleans Pelicans 115-113.

The Three is Key for Houston

The Rockets have eclipsed the Warriors as the NBA’s most prolific three-point shooting team, with James Harden (37.9 percent), Chris Paul (38.5), Eric Gordon (34.6), Trevor Ariza (38.6) and Gerald Green (37.3) leading the barrage from beyond the arc. Harden’s fantastic play hasn’t gone unnoticed, as the 28-year-old is the runaway favorite to win the MVP award.

Houston faces a tough test on Friday when it travels north of the border to renew acquaintances with the Eastern Conference-leading Toronto Raptors. After that, the Rockets do battle with Dallas before hosting San Antonio and the Los Angeles Clippers. In order to break the record, they’ll also need to dispatch New Orleans and Minnesota. Of all the teams mentioned, only the lowly Mavericks (20-45 SU) possess a losing record.

Will the Houston Rockets break the franchise-record 22-game winning streak?
