Cleveland Cavaliers LeBron James complains to officials in front of Boston Celtics Jaylen Brown

Can Home Court Revitalize A Listless Cavaliers?

The Cleveland Cavaliers looked simply overwhelmed during the first two games of their Eastern Conference Finals series against the Boston Celtics. Now LeBron James and company head back to Cleveland in hopes that playing in front of their home fans will provide them a spark. The Cavaliers are 13-2 in their last 15 games at Quicken Loans Arena – including 5-1 during this postseason.

SHARK BITES
  • LeBron James and Kevin Love have accounted for 54% of the Cavaliers’ points in this series.
  • The Cavaliers have not lost 3-straight games since January 15.
  • The Celtics are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games on the road.

The Cavaliers can also take solace in the fact that the Celtics have been two very different teams at home compared to the road during the playoffs. The Celtics are 9-0 SU in their nine games in Beantown this postseason compared to 1-4 on the road. Boston has averaged 110.1 points per game at TD Garden vs 94.6 while traveling in these playoffs. It does seem odd for a team that had the third-most road wins during the regular season but the Celtics’ bench just has not provided enough punch on the road in the playoffs.

The big question though, is who will help LeBron? Kevin Love has taken a big step forward after a terrible first round series vs the Indiana Pacers – averaging 22.8 points and 11.5 rebounds in the last five games – but there simply is not enough depth on the Cavaliers to worry the Celtics. James and Love have combined to account for 54% of the points, 52% of the rebounds and 46% of the Cavaliers shots during this series.
