  • The Cleveland Cavaliers (35-22 SU, 30-24-3 ATS) aim to continue their climb up the NBA Eastern Conference standings with their fifth straight win when they visit the New Orleans Pelicans (29-27, 27-28-1) in Friday NBA action.

    The Cavaliers have pulled within one game of the third-place Philadelphia 76ers during their 4-0 SU run, capped by Wednesday’s 113-85 rout of the visiting Detroit Pistons. The Pelicans, after falling out of the playoff picture during a 10-game losing streak, have revived their postseason hopes with three straight wins on home hardwood and will now be looking to win four straight home contests for the third time this season.

    After struggling to generate consistent results during a preceding 6-8 SU run that failed to produce consecutive wins, the Cavaliers have found a higher gear. With the offense showing renewed vigor, the Cavs have claimed victory by an average of 21.3 points during their four-game win streak.

    The club continued to roll in Wednesday’s demolition of the Pistons despite missing leading scorers Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland for the night due to injury. Big man Jarrett Allen stepped up in their absence by tallying team highs with 20 points and 16 rebounds and has now recorded double-doubles in four of his past five outings.

    Latest Betting Notes: Pelicans

    With victories in each of the first three games of their homestand, the Pelicans have vaulted back into the thick of the playoff hunt in the West and enter Friday’s action trailing the sixth-place Phoenix Suns by just a half-game.

    The Pelicans’ win streak coincides with a resurgence by Brandon Ingram, who is finally rounding back into form after being sidelined by injury for two months. Ingram racked up a team-high 30 points in Tuesday’s 116-107 win over the Atlanta Hawks and has averaged 32.5 points over his past two outings after scoring just 19.3 points per game through the first four outings after his return.

    The Pelicans also bolstered their shooting by acquiring Josh Richardson in a trade deadline deal with the San Antonio Spurs. However, the veteran shooting guard is not expected to make his debut in the Big Easy on Friday night.

    Cavaliers Player Prop: Jarrett Allen to Record a Double-Double

    The Cavs expect to have both Garland and Mitchell back in the lineup for Friday’s contest. However, that is unlikely to change the role for the big man, who has been a force under the bucket while averaging just under 11 boards per game over his past nine outings. Accordingly, NBA betting fans will want to consider getting in on Allen as a -115 bet to post his fourth double-double in six road appearances.

    Pelicans Player Prop: CJ McCollum OVER 21.5 Points

    CJ McCollum has remained a model of consistency for the Pelicans during this roller-coaster season. Even while the team was losing 10 straight, McCollum continued to maintain a steady pace, averaging over 21 points per game. With Zion Williamson still out due to injury and Josh Richardson yet to join the team, look for McCollum to once again take on a leading role up front and pay out as a -110 bet to record OVER 21.5 points on Friday night.
