Pistons are Quietly the Second-Best Bet in the NBA

The Detroit Pistons weren’t considered a major contender in the Eastern Conference heading into the 2017-18 season, but they’ve certainly looked the part so far. Sportsbooks of five straight, the Pistons are set to begin a three-game road trip and a stretch with nine of 11 away from home when they visit the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday.

Sportsbook opened the Bucks as 3.5-point home favorites with a total of 208.

Shark Bites
  • The Pistons are 1-6 SU and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games on the road against the Bucks.
  • The Pistons are 0-8 SU and 1-6-1 ATS in their last eight games as an underdog of 3.5 or less.
  • The Bucks are 7-3 SU in their last 10 games at home against teams with winning records.

Detroit has been dominating of late, evidenced by an average winning margin of 10.2 points in the aforementioned streak. On the year, the Pistons are 9-3-1 ATS – good enough to make them the second-best bet in the Association behind the red-hot Boston Celtics. The Pistons are led by Tobias Harris, Andre Drummond and Reggie Jackson but are getting contributions from some unlikely sources as well, thanks to Luke Kennard’s 14 points and five boards in Sunday’s win over the Miami Heat.

Milwaukee has won three straight heading into the tilt and has had no issues working newly acquired point guard Eric Bledsoe into the rotation. Bledsoe scored 15 points on Monday – his highest total in three games with the squad – as the Bucks beat Memphis 110-103.

The Bucks have had no issues with the Pistons lately, as Milwaukee has claimed the last four meetings in the series. The UNDER is also 5-2 in the last seven matchups between the clubs.
