Davis' Pelicans are Huge Underdogs vs. Durant's Warriors

If star power is your thing, make sure to tune in to tonight’s Golden State Warriors-New Orleans Pelicans contest. Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant and Draymond Green will be looking to pick up their first win of the new NBA season versus superstar Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans in the Bayou State.

Shark Bites
  • The Warriors are 13-3 SU in their last 16 games after losing as a favorite.
  • The total has gone OVER in 15 of the Pelicans' last 19 games with one day off between games.
  • The Warriors are 4-0 ATS in their last four games against the Pelicans.

Sportsbooks aren't expecting this one to be close. Most shops opened the Warriors in the -10 ballpark with an OVER/UNDER of 219.

Davis had the best season debut of any player in the league against the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday, as the Kentucky product erupted for 50 points, 16 rebounds, seven steals, five assists and four blocks in a 107-102 home setback. That might be a theme of New Orleans’ season, unfortunately, as the talent surrounding Davis will leave a lot to be desired on most nights.

Golden State only dropped nine games in last year’s record-setting regular season, but the Durant era didn’t exactly get off to the best start against San Antonio. Durant put up 27 points and 10 rebounds in his debut but Golden State was outrebounded 64-41 and surrendered 21 offensive boards. Was that an anomaly, or will the absence of Andrew Bogut be missed throughout the year? Only time will tell.

Curry was ice-cold in the season opener, going 3-for-10 from beyond the arc against the Spurs. The sharpshooter set an NBA record with 402 treys in 2015-16.

Playing in New Orleans hasn't been an issue for Golden State lately. The Dubs are 10-1 SU in their last 11 road games against the Pels.
