The Boston Celtics come back home after posting a solid 118-106 win over the Denver Nuggets. Nice win, but I gotta tell you that Denver played WITHOUT Nikola Jokic. The Celtics woulda been a small favorite on the road if Jokic was playing, but when it was announced that he would miss, the line BALLOONED to -10.5.
The Sacramento Kings have been a mess this season and gave head coach Mike Brown the pink slip back in December. Doug Christie, who has been an assistant in Sacramento since 2021 and played five years in a Kings uniform, has been tagged as the interim coach. Looks like the players are vibing to Christie as Sacramento has won five of six since Doug started calling the Xs & Os.

What a MESS! We're talking about Sacramento and the crazy surrounding the 2024-25 season. The Kings started the year with a solid 8-6 mark but toward the end of November, it all turned ugly. They lost four in a row, won a few lost a few, then hit a brick wall with a six game losing streak in December. That prompted general manager Monte McNair to fire Mike Brown and install Christie as the interim coach. Well, so far so good. After losing his first game against the Lakers in Los Angeles, 132-122, the Kings have ripped off FIVE in a row and come into Boston with Uncle Mo on the bench. And even with all the noise, the ups and downs, SacTown is sitting only 2.5 games behind the Lakers for the top spot in the Pacific Division.
Ever since Brown was fired there has been speculation that the Kings might be looking to trade star guard De'Aaron Fox. With Miami and Jimmy Butler heading in opposite directions, there could be a fit. Fox has missed the last two games with a hip injury and his availability for tonight is still up in the air. Looks like Sacramento has handled his absence well with two wins, beating the Warriors 129-99 and the Heat 123-118. Keegan Murray stepped into the starting lineup and scored 11 points against Golden State with four rebounds, then put up 14 points and cleaned the glass 12 times against Miami.
I'm still not convinced that Sacramento can handle the BEST one/two punch in the NBA. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are virtually impossible to stop, and now that Kristaps Porzingis is back on the floor, it makes life even easier for the Jays, Jayson and Jaylen. Porzingis is playing an average of over 30 minutes the last few games, and putting 20+ points on the stat sheet.
So this selection has to hinge on Fox. Is he in, is he out? Gonna throw down on the Celtics in either scenario. If Fox plays, gimme the Cs for a few peanuts, but if Fox sits, then we would bump Boston up to a hefty wager as long as the line stays under 9 points.

No news yet on the status of Fox. He was at practice on Wednesday but the Kings have not said if he will be in the starting lineup against Boston.
