Clippers Slight Road Favorites in Kawhi’s Return To Toronto

Clippers vs Raptors Betting Odds December 11, 2019

Kawhi Leonard returns to Toronto in a battle between two of the NBA’s top teams. The Clippers have struggled on the road, while Toronto hasn’t been sharp in its last four games. Add in the emotions of Leonard’s return and it sounds like a defensive battle that could go UNDER.

Check out these interesting betting props for Kawhi's return to Toronto.

Opening Odds Analysis

Despite struggling on the road this season and despite the fact Toronto has a 9-2 home record, the Clippers opened as 1.5-point road favorites. This is likely because the Raptors have lost their last two home games and three of their last four games overall and point guard Fred VanVleet is questionable to play.

Los Angeles News & Notes

The last time Kawhi Leonard played in Toronto, he was helping the Raptors win their first NBA championship … and cementing himself as one of the league’s premier superstars.

He’s since departed for the West Coast, leading a retooled Clippers team that’s second in the Western Conference with an 18-7 record and is a legitimate title contender.

Leonard sat out Los Angeles’ last game, a 110-99 victory over the Pacers on Monday, to rest a sore left knee. Paul George led the offense with 36 points in the win, bringing his season average up to 23.9 points per game.

Kawhi is expected to play Wednesday against Toronto, and the Clippers will need him alongside George: they’re only 5-6 SU (and 4-7 ATS) on the road this season and they’re playing a Toronto club that has lost just two games at home.

Toronto News & Notes

When Kawhi Leonard left the Raptors in the offseason, many believed the team would go from NBA champs to fighting among the Eastern Conference’s weaker teams. Instead, Toronto is 16-7, boasts one of the NBA’s toughest defenses and is again looking like a legitimate playoff contender.

The Raptors have recently hit a rough stretch, however, which has coincided with the return of starting point guard Kyle Lowry. They broke a three-game skid Monday with a 93-92 win over Chicago, but it was a less than convincing win and the fourth straight game in which Toronto has not played particularly well.

Toronto was also without rising star and playoff hero Fred VanVleet, who missed the game with a bruised right knee. An MRI revealed no structural damage, but his status is still in question for Wednesday’s matchup against a deep and talented Clippers team.

Betting Pick: UNDER 239.5

Both clubs play tough defense and make their opponents work hard for each and every point. Add in the emotions of Kawhi’s return and I see this being a defensive battle that goes UNDER.
