Heat Take 2-0 Lead With Another Big Win

A strong offensive showing from Miami’s top four scorers earned the Heat a 119-103 win in Game 2 on Wednesday. Bam Adebayo led the team with 23 points while Jimmy Butler had a double-double with 23 points and 12 assists. Victor Oladipo (19 points) and Tyler Herro (18 points) also came up big in the win.

The Heat will be confident going forward in this series as history is on their side: Miami has won 18 of 18 series after going up 2-0 while Philadelphia is 0-19 after falling behind 2-0. Miami has also shown an ability to clamp down defensively in these playoffs, allowing just 97.4 points per game. With Joel Embiid still out, it’s hard to imagine that the Sixers will be able to solve a stingy Heat defense.

Herro (ankle), Kyle Lowry (hamstring), Caleb Martin (ankle), Gabe Vincent (knee), Max Strus (ankle) and PJ Tucker (calf) are questionable for Friday.

Sixers Need To Find More Offense Without Embiid

Philadelphia continued to struggle in Game 2 without Joel Embiid, despite a 34-point performance from Tyrese Maxey. Tobias Harris (21 points) and James Harden (20 points) also scored 20-plus in the loss, but no other Sixers player finished in double digits.

Offensive struggles have become a bit of a pattern of late for the Sixers, who are 1-4 over their last five games while shooting 45 percent or worse from the field in each of those losses. After shooting 43 percent from the field and 17.6 percent from beyond the arc in Game 1, the 76ers weren’t much better in Game 2, going 45.2 percent on field-goal attempts and 26.7 percent from long range.

Embiid (orbital) remains out.

Heat vs 76ers Pick & Insights

Heat: Keys To Cover

The Heat have two key things working for them right now: offensive depth and elite team defense. The Sixers don’t look all that dangerous without Embiid, so the Heat should be able to limit their scoring and secure a 3-0 series lead.

76ers: Keys To Cover

Philadelphia clearly isn’t the same team without Embiid but the 76ers are going to have to find a way to be more efficient offensively if they’re going to stay alive in these playoffs. Harden shot just 6-for-15 in Game 2, Danny Green went 1-for-10, while all five starters were a combined 5-for-23 from three-point territory – everyone will need to be better in Game 3.
