Miami News & Notes

The Heat cruised to a 112-97 win over the Wizards in Miami on Thursday night as 6.5-point favorites. Jimmy Butler had 32 points, five assists and four steals in the win. Butler is currently averaging 24.8 points per game which would be his highest scoring rate ever as his previous top scoring average came back in 2016-17 when he averaged 23.9 points per game with the Chicago Bulls.

Miami had lost three straight games and were an 8-point underdog heading into a road matchup on November 13 against the Utah Jazz. The Heat won that game 111-105 and haven’t looked back since, reeling off three straight wins with and average margin of victory of 14.3 points per game. Bam Adebayo (knee) and Tyler Herro (wrist) are both currently listed as questionable for this matchup.

Washington News & Notes

Bradley Beal scored 30 points and Kyle Kuzma recorded 19 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists on Thursday, but it wasn’t enough to save the Wizards from a 15-point loss to the Heat. Washington has now lost each of its last two games by double-digits after having gone 5-0 SU and 4-1 ATS over its last five games. Both of those losses came on the road.

Bettors may be tempted to roll with the Heat after their convincing win on Thursday in this matchup, but it’s worth noting that both of these teams have pretty severe home and road splits. Washington is 6-1 SU and ATS at home and 4-4 SU and 3-5 ATS on the road while Miami is 6-1 SU at home and 5-4 SU on the road. Home court could definitely play a role in this rematch.

How Miami Will Cover

Miami has looked outstanding on both sides of the court over its last week of play. The Heat just need to continue playing at that level to earn the win and cover here. And of course, getting Adebayo and/or Herro into the lineup would go a long way.

How Washington Will Cover

Washington has fed off of its home crowd all season long, winning six games including outright upsets over the Milwaukee Bucks, Atlanta Hawks and Indiana Pacers. If the Wizards play to their normal standards at home, they will be an extremely tough out for the Heat.
