    LeBron James scored 38 points on Tuesday night to surpass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA’s all-time leading scorer. Despite the history-making effort, the Lakers came up short in a 133-130 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder as 6.5-point favorites. James is averaging 30.2 points, 8.5 rebounds and seven assists per game this season.

    Los Angeles made a big splash in the trade market on Wednesday night, trading away Russell Westbrook, two bench players and its 2027 first-round pick for D’Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley and Jarred Vanderbilt in a three-team trade. Russell started his career with the Lakers and is averaging 17.9 points and 6.2 assists per game this season.

    The Keys to Victory: Bucks

    The Lakers have been awful on defense this season, ranking 28th in the NBA by allowing 118.6 points per game. Los Angeles has given up over 130 points in back-to-back losses, and now the Bucks and their red-hot offense come to town on Thursday night.

    It’s hard to imagine a scenario where the Bucks don’t put up a lot of points in this one. To cover the spread as road favorites, Milwaukee will just need to make a few key stops in their own zone. And that doesn’t figure to be a problem if the team continues its recent run of solid defense, allowing only 110.6 points per game over its last five outings.

    The Keys to Victory: Lakers

    It was unclear as of Wednesday night whether the D’Angelo Russell trade would be finalized in time for Russell and Malik Beasley to join the team on Thursday night. But even if they do, it will take some time for this new starting unit to jell, and they won’t have an easy game to get acclimated in facing the red-hot Bucks.

    With that in mind, the pressure will fall heavily on LeBron James and Anthony Davis to produce enough offense to keep up with Milwaukee. It will be interesting to see if the Lakers can turn their season around with Westbrook out of town, and they’d love to start with a high-scoring upset at home.
