NBA And NHL Playoff Preview And Picks For April 25

We’ll see one Game 7 in the first round as the Leafs travel to take on the Bruins.

Home teams definitely have an edge here but I think the Leafs will attract some money at this heavy price before puck-drop.

Ninja and I handicap the games in the video above and my picks are below. I’m coming off a 2-1 night in the NBA, and the NHL has been good to me so far:

Now 12-7 in the NHL after a 1-1 Monday night. Up $347 (based on $100/gm bets)
NBA 9-11 ATS after a 2-1 Tuesday night.

NHL:

Leafs vs Bruins -165, 5.5

  • Home teams historically win Game 7 at 58.6 percent.
  • We saw a lot better play out of Boston’s second and third lines last game. Freddy Andersen just played better.

Pick: Bruins first period -0.5 goal +140

NBA:

Pacers vs Cavs -6, 205.5

  • Pacers have covered six of the last eight meetings vs the Cavs.
  • Last five games for both teams have played UNDER.
  • Slowest-paced series in the playoffs in terms of points per possession. I think that’s just how the Pacers want it.
  • My general feeling is the more LeBron has to do everything himself when the Cavs are laying points, the more I like the other side.

Pick: Pacers

Wizards vs Raptors -7.5, 216

  • Home-court advantage is now built into this line and oddsmakers want you to think hard about taking the Raptors.
  • Wizards have lost eight straight on the road and are 1-9 ATS in their last 10 on the road.
  • Raptors are the far better team. Been saying it all series – they need to play tougher defense.

Pick: UNDER first half 109

Timberwolves vs Rockets -12, 216

  • This total opened at 219 and steadily moved down to 216 by midday.
  • Last game only played OVER the total by 1 point and a late jumper made it a heartbreaker.
  • Think we’ll see a Rockets team remaining committed to defense and Wolves team that doesn’t shoot quite as well on the road.

Pick: UNDER

Jazz vs Thunder -3.5, 207.5

  • Strangest line on the board for me. Jazz have just played far better team basketball than OKC the last three games. Also out-coaching the Thunder.
  • Jazz are 16-3 in their last 19 road games so I’m not sure home court should be a huge factor here.
  • Paul George and Russell Westbrook can’t seem to find playoff chemistry.

Pick: Jazz ATS and moneyline
