NBA: December's Best & Worst Bets

Aldridge Duncan Spurs

It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to learn that the Spurs and Warriors were the two best NBA teams in December, while the 76ers and Lakers were among the league’s worst, but who were the best and worst bets during the month? Let’s take a look at the month’s top money makers as well as the teams that helped add to their backers’ holiday debt.

Best and Worst ATS Bets in December

Not only did the Spurs post an NBA best SU record of 14-2 during the month, they were also the best team to wager on as they posted a 12-4 ATS record. Even more impressive for San Antonio is that they covered eight double digit spreads during the month, and from December 11th to the 23rd, they went on a seven game ATS win streak. Not far behind the Spurs was the Orlando Magic, who went 11-4 ATS which included six ATS wins as underdogs.

If you were backing the 76ers in December, you should probably focus on wagering on another sport. It’s never too late to start research for competitive eating events. All jokes aside, well maybe not because the Sixers are a joke, the team only covered in a fourth of their games. Just how bad were the Sixers during the month? 11 of their 13 loses came by 10 points or more. The month was also a major letdown for the Minnesota Timberwolves, who somehow matched Philadelphia’s awful ATS record. Andrew Wiggins and company were only able to cover twice in eight home games.
