NBA Week Betting: Rockets Undefeated

The defending NBA champion San Antonio Spurs play the first of two this weekend against Southwest Division rivals when they visit the undefeated Houston Rockets on Thursday night as early 3-point road favorites.

The 2-1 Spurs have been less than dominant in the early going of the NBA season, posting a 101-100 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on opening night before edging Atlanta 94-92 in their last home outing. The Spurs were also a disappointment in their only road game to date, dropping a 94-89 decision to Atlanta in a game they had led by as many as 13 points in the first half and by seven in the fourth quarter.

San Antonio goes into Thursday night’s Spurs vs. Rockets matchup at Toyota Center winless ATS so far this season and 0-3 SU and ATS in their last three against Houston. Following Thursday night’s matchup, the Spurs return home to face the 2-2 New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday night.

The 5-0 Rockets will cap a tough weekend when they welcome the Golden State Warriors to town on Saturday night. The Warriors improved to a perfect 4-0 with a strong 121-104 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday night, easily covering as 5-point favorites at Bovada.

The 2-2 Portland Trail Blazers will look to remain atop the Northwest Division when they welcome the Mavericks to town as 3-point home favorites at Bovada.

The Blazers are coming off a dominating 101-82 win over LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday, covering as 2-point home underdogs. Portland faces a Mavs squad riding a three-game SU winning streak, 2-1 ATS, before traveling to Los Angeles to take on the 3-2 Clippers on Saturday night.

Dallas continues a busy weekend with a visit to Utah on Friday night to face the inconsistent Jazz, before returning home on Sunday to face the Miami Heat.

The new-look Cavaliers will look to reverse their early struggles when they wrap up a four-game road trip with a visit to Denver on Friday night. The 1-3 Cavs are winless SU and ATS as favorites in the early going, but maintain their status as favorites to win the 2015 NBA championship with odds of 11/4 at Bovada.
