Barrett Heating Up As Reddish Makes Knicks Debut

The Knicks stopped a three-game skid on Sunday with a 110-102 win over the Los Angeles Clippers. RJ Barrett led all scorers with 28 points and added 14 boards for a double-double while Julius Randle dropped 24 points in the win.

Barrett, 21, has been heating up for the Knicks since the calendar flipped to 2022, scoring 22.4 points per game in January – up more than five points from his season average. New York should be getting another boost over the next few games as newly acquired Cam Reddish finds his footing after returning from an ankle injury. The No. 10 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft had two points and two rebounds in five minutes during his Knicks debut on Sunday.

Kemba Walker (knee) and Ryan Arcidiacono (ankle) are questionable for Monday’s game.

Cavaliers Poised To Start Another Win Streak

The Cavaliers got back into the win column on Saturday with a 94-87 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Darius Garland (23 points, 11 assists), Evan Mobley (15 points, 17 rebounds) and Jarrett Allen (14 points, 13 assists) each had a double-double for Cleveland.

The Cavs have been both good and streaky this season, having posted five win streaks of four or more games. They were recently on a five-game run prior to their loss to the Chicago Bulls on January 19, but they’ll have a chance to win a few in a row again over the next 10 days, with four of five games against teams that are below .500.

Rajon Rondo (hamstring) is questionable while Lauri Markkanen (ankle) is out.

Knicks vs Cavaliers Pick & Insights

Knicks: Keys To Cover

Neither the Knicks nor the Cavs have been great offensively this season so Monday’s matchup will likely be a low-scoring defensive duel. If New York is going to pull out the upset – or at least cover the spread – its sixth-ranked defense (104.6 points per game) will have to be at its best. Barrett will likely need to keep shooting the lights out, too.

Cavaliers: Keys To Cover

Along with their second-ranked defense (102.5 points per game), the Cavaliers boast an impressive amount of depth throughout the roster, with nine players averaging 10-plus points per game and four of those at 15 or more. While the Knicks are strong defensively themselves, it’ll be hard to shut down all of the Cavs’ weapons.
