Denver Nuggets vs. Philadelphia 76ers Expert Picks
Philadelphia 76ers ATS +9.5 (-110), Denver Nuggets ML (-390)
Credit deservedly needs to be bestowed upon Philadelphia for stringing together four consecutive victories with four successful covers, with most of that success coming without the services of both Paul George and Joel Embiid due to injury. Tyrese Maxey has averaged 33.3 points while shooting better than 52 percent from the field during this stretch with the Sixers ranking seventh in offense (120.5 points per 100 possessions) and eighth in defense (109 points allowed per 100 possessions) with victories over the likes of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers. All good things must come to an end, though, and beating a Denver roster at full strength will be difficult to pull off as George and Embiid continue to miss time.
This marks the fourth of a five-game road trip for the Nuggets, who've gone 0-3 SU and ATS to drop to 28-19 overall. It's a far cry from the 4-0 record it accumulated in both markets prior to this recent stretch, but taking on a team as decimated as Philadelphia at the moment may be just what the doctor ordered to get back on the winning path.
Wagering Denver on the moneyline doesn't come with a ton of profit at -390, but it's the safest play with the Sixers having literally no one available (Embiid and backup center Andre Drummond) to combat someone as sized and skilled as Nikola Jokic in the frontcourt. The Nuggets actually have a losing record covering on the road at just 12-13, though, and will need to take the hardwood again tomorrow night against the Charlotte Hornets.
Yes, Denver should prevail here, but Philadelphia deserves our respect to at least cover a generous 9.5-point spread for bettors considering how competitive its played as of late. The Jokic factor could spell doom for them on the scoreboard, but keeping this to under double digits seems doable.
OVER 234 Total Points (-110)
The Nuggets' third-best 30-17 record in reaching an OVER, including 15-10 away from Ball Arena, speaks for itself. The Sixers are also 5-1 hitting an OVER across their last six home outings, as well, and no one is expecting a defensive showcase on Friday either.
Denver Nuggets vs. Philadelphia 76ers Player Prop
Russell Westbrook OVER 12.5 Points (-122)
The Sixers' perimeter defense is meh to say the least, so someone like Russell Westbrook should face little resistance not only working his way to the basket, but finding buckets once he's there with no real rim protectors to thwart him.
The former league Most Valuable Player has exceeded 12.5 points in each of his last four appearances, all of which have come with at least 10 shot attempts.
Denver Nuggets vs. Philadelphia 76ers Betting Trends
- Russell Westbrook has failed to exceed 1.5 3-pointers in 10 of his last 11 games on the road (0.7 3-pointers/game average).
- Julian Strawther has failed to exceed 6.5 points in eight of his last 10 games on the road (five points/game average).
- Jamal Murray has exceeded 15 1H points + rebounds + assists in five of his last six games on the road (21.2 1H points + rebounds + assists/game average).
