NBA Prop Bets: Malcolm Brogdon Leads Our Best Bets

Indiana Pacers guard, Malcolm Brogdon, leads our best NBA prop bets.

As we continue through the second month of the NBA season, we are starting to get a grasp on the identity of different teams in the league. Oddsmakers have been making adjustments as well that reflect what they have observed early in the season.

NBA Prop Bets

Nov. 17: Indiana Pacers @ Detroit Pistons

NBA Prop Bet #1: Malcolm Brogdon Points

Indiana Pacers guard Malcolm Brogdon is easily one of the most underrated players in the NBA and continues to perform at an incredibly high level early in the season.

In 10 games, Brogdon is averaging 22.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, 6.8 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.7 blocks per game. Not only is he putting up superlative numbers, he is also doing it at a very efficient rate, shooting 52 percent from the field and 88 percent from the free-throw line.

Brogdon’s point total for tonight’s game is 21.5. I believe he goes OVER this one. He has topped that total in six of his 10 games this season, including three of the last four.

On top of that, the Pistons are one of the worst defensive teams in basketball, sitting 25th in the NBA in defensive rating (110.3).

The Pick: Malcolm Brogdon OVER 21.5 Points (-108)

Nov. 17: Indiana Pacers @ Detroit Pistons

NBA Prop Bet #2: Myles Turner Rebounds

Next up, we’re sticking with the same game and taking Myles Turner to go OVER his rebound total against the lowly Pistons. Turner has exceeded 7.5 rebounds in six of his last nine games and is facing a team that really struggles to rebound the basketball.

So far this season, Turner is averaging 13.9 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 0.7 steals and an NBA-best 3.3 blocks per game. He is a major reason why the Pacers are in the top half of the NBA in both offensive rebounding and rebounding as a whole.

The Pistons are mired near the bottom of the Eastern Conference with a 3-10 record and one aspect of their game that has caused problems is their inability to rebound. The Pistons rank 30th in the NBA in defensive rebounding (30.8 per game). On top of those struggles, the team also ranks 29th in average point differential (-10.7).

I think that Turner is going to have a field day in the rebounding department and should pull down close to or into double-digit boards.

The Pick: Myles Turner OVER 7.5 Rebounds (-135)

Nov. 17: Boston Celtics @ Atlanta Hawks

NBA Prop Bet #3: Trae Young Points

Before looking at this total, I suspected it would be a few points higher given the way Young has been playing of late. I like the OVER on this total of 24.5 points based solely on the fact that he has exceeded that number in five of his last six games. In the only outlier, he ended up with 23 points.

One reason I absolutely love this wager is that Young plays really well against the Celtics. In three games vs Boston last season, he averaged a ridiculous 34.7 points per game. I don’t know what it is about the green and white Celtics jerseys, but whenever Young sees them, he plays at his best.

Young and the Hawks have won two games in a row by a total of 38 points. The oddsmakers have the Hawks as 4.5-point favorites in this one, so they are clearly buying into the way this team is playing, and so am I.

The Pick: Trae Young OVER 24.5 Points (-116)

How To Bet On NBA Game Props And Team Props

NBA team props are based upon a particular team’s performance in the game and not the game’s result. The most common NBA team prop bets are based on a team’s points.

Besides points, prop bets can also include rebounds, assists, blocks, turnovers and fouls per game, and metrics such as shooting percentage and three-point attempts per game. NBA team props can also consist of points in the paint or free-throw attempts. Similar to NFL props and MLB props, NBA props can vary from an individual matchup to a series or season. Common NBA team prop wagers include:

  • • Teams’ combined points to be odd or even
  • • Whether the game goes into overtime
  • • The team to reach 10 points or 20 points first
  • • Team to have the highest-scoring quarter
  • • Margin of victory
  • • The team to score first
  • • Team to win the first half
  • • Team to win the second half
