The Morning Dunk: Davis Makes History With First-Ever Stat Line

An historic line, a game deprived of scoring, and a pair of superstars sit in the latest edition of The Morning Dunk, recapping the best NBA action from Sunday night.

Davis Records Historic Line In Lakers Win

Just when you think you've seen every possible combination of numbers in a player's box score, Anthony Davis enters the equation and puts up a line we've never, ever seen before.

Davis became the first player in NBA history to finish with at least 25 points (27), 25 rebounds, and five steals (seven) in a game as the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves 120-109 at Crypto.com Arena. He also added five assists and three rejections in 39 minutes of action.

Minnesota was extremely undermanned in this matchup, missing key rotation players Karl-Anthony Towns (knee), Rudy Gobert (hamstring), and Kyle Anderson (shoulder).

The Lakers entered as the 3.5-point favorites against the injury-ridden Timberwolves, covering the spread for the fourth time in 10 games.

76ers, Knicks Set Offense Back In Low-Scoring Affair

If you took the UNDER in this game, you were probably never breaking a sweat.

The Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks engaged in the lowest-scoring game of the entire 2023-24 campaign as Philly emerged with a 79-73 win at Madison Square Garden.

The OVER/UNDER was initially set at 210.5 points, with the 152-point total falling way short of that mark.

The win moved the Sixers to within one game of the Knicks in the Eastern Conference standings with a 36-28 record SU, good enough for the sixth seed.

Bucks Take Advantage As Clippers Sit Stars

The Milwaukee Bucks smelled blood in the water as the Los Angeles Clippers elected to sit two of their All-Stars on Sunday.

In what was still a competitive battle, the Bucks ultimately prevailed by beating Los Angeles 124-117 at Crypto.com Arena.

Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue decided to rest both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George as they're dealing with nagging injuries.

Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard became the second set of teammates since 1980 to each record at least 30 points and 10 assists in the same game.

The Clippers remain 3.5-games back of the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference with 19 games remaining on the schedule.
