Thunder-Warriors Has Highest Total Ever

Stephen Curry Serge Ibaka

Everyone knows the Golden State Warriors and Oklahoma City Thunder can score in bunches, but sportsbooks are expecting Game 1 of their Western Conference finals matchup to be historically high-scoring.

The Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook – the most renowned book in Sin City – opened the OVER/UNDER for the tilt at 232. That would make it the highest total in NBA playoff history.

As of Friday morning that number was slightly bet down to 231, but it still remained higher than any number posted before it. The Los Angeles Lakers-Denver Nuggets 2008 first-round series previously owned that mantle, as Games 1, 2 and 3 all occupied the top three spots.

Considering the offensive firepower both clubs possess, it’s no surprise to see such a high total. Golden State led the Association with 114.8 points per game in the regular season, while OKC ranked right behind them at 109.7. The Thunder shot 52 percent from the floor (first) with the Dubs coming in at 51 percent (third) in the campaign.

Out of the top 20 biggest totals, the OVER/UNDER is 9-11. But when the number is north of 221.5, the UNDER is a sizzling 10-2.

With Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook lighting up the scoreboard, it’s going to make for an extremely fun West finals. But smart sports bettors would be wise to take note of the UNDER when the totals reach this high instead of blindly throwing down their money on the OVER.
