ACC/Big Ten Challenge Odds

The ACC/Big Ten Challenge will showcase plenty of high-profile schools for NCAA basketball betting fans to enjoy; 11 different teams that qualified for March Madness last year will compete.

The big game to watch on Monday is Virginia vs No. 15 Minnesota at 7:00 p.m. ET. Bovada had Minnesota favored by 15 on the opening line and it has since shifted to 15.5 points. The Golden Gophers have rolled to a 6-0 start and have taken bettors along with them for the ride, going 5-1 against the spread so far.

Minnesota has three different players averaging 13 or more points per game. Virginia has lost three of its last four games, both straight up and against the spread.

Tuesday has several marquee ACC/Big Ten Challenge matchups. No. 3 Ohio State takes on Florida State at 7:30 p.m. ET in a battle of 5-0 teams. Defense has been the story for the highly-touted Buckeyes; they allow just 53.4 points per game, the eighth-lowest figure in the league. They also have fantastically distributed scoring, with five different players averaging at least 11 points per contest.

Michigan and Clemson go head to head at 9:00 p.m. ET. Clemson, off to a 5-1 start, should be a solid favorite on the opening lines. The Tigers are 2-2 against the spread this season and will look to avenge a 62-59 loss in last year’s NIT. But will they get their offense going? Michigan allows just 52.2 points per game. Only one team in the country allows fewer than that.

No. 19 Illinois faces No. 25 North Carolina at 9:30 p.m. ET. The Tar Heels have struggled in bettors’ eyes, going 4-2 overall but just 1-3 ATS so far. They failed to cover a 13.5-spread at Bovada and SportsBetting.ag in their last game against Charleston. They’ll face an Illinois team that shoots 49.5 per cent from the floor, good for 26th in the nation.

A couple of other ACC/Big Ten matchups should draw action on Tuesday. Georgia Tech faces Northwestern at 7:00 p.m. ET. Northwestern has only faced one pointspread in its three games – and it covered the 10 points at Bovada.

Bettors can also try their hand at Iowa and Wake Forest at 7:00 p.m. ET. Wake Forest is just 2-3 against the spread with a 3-3 straight-up record. The problem has been defense. Wake Forest has allowed 74.5 points per game so far; that’s the 290th-best mark in the nation.

At least Travis McKie has been a bright spot for the Demon Deacons; he already has a pair of double-doubles so far this season.
