Sportsbook Odds Analysis

The Bears opened as 11-point favorites in the Bahamas and have received enough betting action to bump the line up to Baylor -13. Heavy betting action on the UNDER 146.5 points Sportsbook line has moved the total in this matchup all the way down to 140.5 points. The UNDER is 6-0 in Baylor’s last six games against Pac-12 teams.

Baylor News & Notes

After losing its top three scorers from last year’s championship team, Baylor came into this season with plenty of talent but an unclear picture of who its top producers would be on offense.

LJ Cryer has emerged as the team’s leading scorer out of the gate with 18.5 points per game. Cryer recorded his third straight game of 20 points or more when he scored 21 in Saturday’s 86-48 blowout win over the Stanford Cardinal.

Five different players on the Bears are averaging 10 points or more so far this season, including freshman Kendall Brown, who is second on the team in scoring with 15 points per game. Baylor is now 10-0 SU over its last 10 games and 8-1 ATS over its last nine thanks to its 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS start to this season.

Arizona State News & Notes

Arizona State had the lead with under two minutes to go as 8-point road underdogs last Thursday facing the San Diego State Aztecs, but the game slipped away in the closing moments as San Diego grinded out a 65-63 win.

The Sun Devils fell to 2-2 SU on the season and 3-5 SU over their last eight games with the loss. On the bright side for backers, the team picked up a rare cover, having gone just 1-8 ATS over its previous nine games.

The Sun Devils have shown some promise on defense early this season, allowing only 63.3 points per game. Senior Kimani Lawrence is the team’s leading scorer with 16 points per game through its first four games. After losing each of last year’s top three scorers this offseason and Marcus Bagley to a knee injury this season, points may be hard to come by in Tempe this season.

How Baylor Will Cover

Baylor is averaging 88.5 points per game on offense and allowing only 53.8 points per game on defense, crushing opposing teams by an average of 34.8 points per game. Another well-rounded effort on both ends of the court should lead to a win and cover on Wednesday.

How Arizona State Will Cover

Arizona State does not have the offensive depth to hang with a team like Baylor. The path to a cover comes with a strong defensive effort and a big game from Kimani Lawrence. Sun Devils backers should also be considering a play on the UNDER in this one.
