Big 10 Wisconsin Favored vs Illinois

One of the teams not-so-firmly on the NCAA Tournament bubble, Illinois needs a deep run in this week’s Big Ten Tournament at Conseco Fieldhouse to convince the committee it’s worthy of a bid to the Big Dance.

Easier said than done for the Fighting Illini (18-13 SU, 12-18 ATS), who take on No. 13 Wisconsin (23-7 SU, 17-11 ATS) in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals in Indianapolis on Friday afternoon.

The Badgers come into the matchup on a four-game SU winning streak (3-1 ATS), and are 7-3 SU and ATS in their last 10 games. As well as Wisconsin is playing, bettors should note Illinois was the only team to knock off the Badgers at the Kohl Center this season, picking up a 63-59 win as 9-point underdogs on February 9.

Bovada opened Wisconsin as 8.5-point favorites against Illinois, which has lost five of its last six games (2-4 ATS).

The winner of the Badgers and Illlini meets No. 5 Ohio State (24-7 SU, 16-15 ATS) or Michigan (15-16 SU, 13-14 ATS) in Saturday’s semifinals, and they’ll know which team it is when they take the floor.

The Buckeyes and Wolverines kick off the quarterfinals on Friday afternoon, and it should be the end of the road for Michigan. Ohio State is priced as 9-point chalk at Bovada.

No. 6 Purdue (26-4 SU, 12-17-1 ATS) clashes with Northwestern (20-12 SU, 18-9 ATS) later on Friday on the other side of the bracket. The Boilermakers have won 12 of their last 13 games, but are only 5-8 ATS during the stretch.

Listed as an 8-point underdog against the Boilermakers, the Wildcats took down Indiana 73-58 as 8.5-point chalk in the first round on Thursday.

No. 11 Michigan State (24-7 SU, 12-18 ATS) battles with Minnesota (19-12 SU, 15-15 ATS) in the late quarterfinal at Conseco Fieldhouse. The Spartans are without Chris Allen for the tilt after the team suspended the guard earlier this week.
