Friday’s Ivy League Betting Preview

It’s the last Friday of Ivy League basketball action and the conference crown is far from determined. Both Yale and Princeton are neck and neck, with the Tigers just half a game back on the Bulldogs. With the automatic bid into March Madness still up for grabs, we take a look at the best angles and hottest trends for bettors in the Ivy League.

Yale Bulldogs @ Cornell Big Red

Yale enters the game as massive favorites, but the Bulldogs have been struggling to cover lately. Yale is just 1-3 ATS in their past four outings, but have faced a closing spread of -9 or higher in three of those contests. The last time these teams met, Yale decimated Cornell 83-52 with five Bulldogs tallying double-digit points.

Cornell managed to cover their first game in nearly a month in their last outing, finishing February with an awful 1-6-1 ATS record. The UNDER has been a solid play with Big Red lately with three of their past four games failing to top the total.

Brown Bears @ Columbia Lions

Despite being the worst team SU in the Ivy League, Brown has a league-best 11-8 ATS record. The Bears are 3-1 ATS in their past four games with an average scoring margin of -6 points per game in that span.

Columbia has been a great bet as of late with the Lions covering in four consecutive games. Total bettors have also been happy with Columbia recently as the OVER is 4-1 in their past five games. The Lions won a tight 77-73 affair against Brown in their past meeting, but failed to cover the spread.

Penn Quakers @ Dartmouth Big Green

High-scoring affairs have become a common occurrence for Penn as of late, with four of their past five games going OVER. Those five games have seen the Quakers and their opponents average a combined 154 points while facing an average closing spread of 143.5.

Dartmouth has been a largely inconsistent play for bettors in any aspect with the team going 2-2 ATS and OVER/UNDER in their past four games. The Big Green scored just 64 points in their last meeting with Penn.

Princeton Tigers @ Harvard Crimson

Princeton has been the best bet in the Ivy League while travelling this season, as the Tigers are 6-3-1 ATS away from home. Princeton has failed to cover in their last three games, all at home, but faced an average closing spread of -14.5.

Harvard has only covered in one game at home this season and that was on New Years Eve against Wofford. Despite being spotted 10.5-points in their last outing against Princeton, Harvard failed to cover as they lost by 21 points.
