Sportsbook Odds Analysis

After Sportsbook as 17.5-point favorites, the Cougars are now as high as -18 at some books. The total opened at 126.5 and has remained locked at that number.

Houston News & Notes

The Cougars continue to dominate the AAC and rise up the rankings week by week, looking to break into the top five for the first time since the 1983-84 season. Houston has covered five of its last six games while winning its last four by an average of more than 20 points per contest.

The Cougars are led by junior guard Quentin Grimes, who tops the team in scoring (17.6), field-goal attempts, free-throw attempts and minutes.

Grimes and sophomore guard Marcus Sasser (16.3 ppg) are the only Cougars logging more than 30 minutes per contest. They’re also the only players on the roster averaging double-digit points.

Tulane News & Notes

Entering his second year coaching Tulane, Ron Hunter has already seen improvement from a year ago, when the Green Wave finished 12-18.

Tulane has played only three games in January and is coming off a pair of one-sided losses. One of the biggest issues for the team has been a lack of scoring punch: The Green Wave average 63.5 points per outing to rank 320th in the country.

Sophomore Jaylen Forbes, their only top-100 recruit, leads Tulane in scoring at 15.2 points per game. The six-foot-five guard is also second in rebounding.

Hunter is still looking for answers on both sides of the ball, and eight players have started at least one game for the Green Wave so far this season.

Betting Pick: OVER 126.5

Houston has averaged 77 points in its last three wins over Tulane, so the offensively challenged Green Wave don’t necessarily have to score their season average to help cash an OVER. The Cougars will dominate from start to finish in a double-digit victory.
