NCAAB Power Rankings: February 21

Despite the flurry of upsets in college basketball over the weekend the Power Rankings haven't been shaken up as much as you might think for this week.

Even the Texas Longhorns' big upset loss to Nebraska wasn't enough to knock them off their perch at No. 1. Thanks to their strong defense and solid shooting the Longhorns remain at No. 1 for another week. However, another upset loss like their 70-67 defeat to Nebraska as a 6.5-point chalk and Texas' grip on the top spot will be greatly loosened.

The Kansas Jayhawks also suffered a big upset loss last week and it likely cleaned out a few college basketball betting bankrolls. Going up against state rivals Kansas State the Jayhawks were a 6-point favorite but ended up getting trounced 84-68. Kansas actually saw their numerical power ranking take a big hit, but since the teams within striking distance also came up short last week they were able to hold on to the No. 2 slot.

After the Jayhawks' upset loss to Kansas State last week the Pittsburgh Panthers had a chance to move up to No. 2, but they blew it thanks to their own upset loss. The Panthers met up with St. John's last week as a 4-point favorite. The Red Storm had already surprised Notre Dame, Duke, and Connecticut this season, and they did the same to the Panthers in a 60-59 win.

While the Longhorns, Jayhawks, and Panthers' upset losses didn't hurt them too much in the rankings, the same can't be said for Ohio State. The Buckeyes lost to Purdue 76-63 as a 1-point road favorite and it was their second loss in their last three games. The mini slump cost the Buckeyes six spots in the rankings as they fell from No. 16 to No. 22. The Buckeyes have also been cleaning out any bettors that have been backing them lately with a 1-5 ATS record in their last six games.

One of the biggest risers on the rankings for the second week in a row was the Duke Blue Devils. Duke entered the Top 10 after moving up five spots from No. 15 last week. Duke won their sixth game in a row over the weekend by downing Georgia Tech 79-57 as a 19.5-point favorite. After covering the spread the Blue Devils are 5-1 ATS during their winning streak.
