February is almost over, which means March Madness is getting closer and regular season schedules are being finalized. Below I've outlined three player props for February 26, the theme focusing on SEC programs, featuring Johni Broome to bury Ole Miss on the boards and Zhuric Phelps to get us at least one three-pointer. All odds courtesy of Sportsbook.
johni broome OVER 12.5 rebounds Vs ole miss rebels (-120)
Preview: Ole Miss Rebels vs Auburn Tigers, 7:00 p.m. ET
Ole Miss gives up a lot of boards considering it's holding the 18th best defensive rating at KenPom. Despite allowing just 69.2 PPG, the Rebels cough up 38 total rebounds per game, sitting inside the bottom 50 in the nation.
Johni Broome is our guy in this scenario. The senior is already averaging 11.1 rebounds this season, the fourth-best mark in college basketball. He's had back-to-back performances at Neville Arena, pocketing 27 total rebounds against Georgia and Arkansas. Broome has hit the OVER on this line in three of his last five home games, averaging 11.4 rebounds per game.
Clocks are ticking and March is rushing in our direction. Auburn and Broome are clutching onto that top spot in the SEC and recently pushed to become a March Madness favorite. After this meeting, the Tigers are up against No. 17 Kentucky, No. 12 Texas A&M and No. 6 Alabama—momentum needs to be in full swing. Based on Broome recording a double-double in three-straight, it seems the two-way star is dialed in exactly how we need him to be.
Zhuric Phelps oVER 0.5 3PM vs Vanderbilt commodores (-140)
Preview: Vanderbilt Commodores vs Texas A&M Aggies, 7:00 p.m. ET
The Commodores are allowing competitors a 37.2 3PT% this season. Based on current statistics, that makes Vandy the worst perimeter defense in the SEC, squandering in the bottom 25 in the nation, too. The vulnerability from beyond the arc isn't a detrimental threat for Mark Byington tonight as the Aggies don't capitalize much from the distance, sinking 6.9 three-pointers per game (ranked 253rd).
Good thing I don't need Phelps to drop more than he's capable of—these are reasonable expectations, Zhuric. The senior has managed at least one three-pointer in six-straight home outings. Last time out, Phelps attempted seven shots from beyond the arc against Tennessee (which is the third-best perimeter defense BTW). His 14.3% reflects his accuracy isn't the best, but we can count on him to take his chances.
amari williams oVER 22.5 Points+Rebounds Vs oklahoma sooners (-105)
Preview: Kentucky Wildcats vs Oklahoma Sooners, 9:00 p.m. ET
Like I said earlier, this is the final push to boost March Madness seedings and reputations ahead of the national championship tournament. And Amari Williams is showing us he's pushing. He's snagged a double-double in four consecutive road appearances courtesy of his scoring and rebounding collaborations—hitting the OVER on this line in the same span.
Last time on the court, he grabbed 11 rebounds and dropped 17 points against a tough No. 4 Alabama program. Something has transformed in the senior since the start of February, where he's averaging 14.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in less than a month.
