Another packed Thursday full of college basketball as we near the final week of February. Below I've outlined two player props for February 20 featuring Rodney Rice to capitalize on the scoresheet as USC overcomes a tough travel day. Then, I'm fading Dovydas Butka as Oregon State visits Pepperdine.
Preview: Oregon State Beavers vs Pepperdine Waves, 10:00 p.m. ET
Recording nearly double the amount of losses as wins, it's safe to admit Pepperdine isn't a threat. Meanwhile, Oregon State needs just four more wins to avoid double-digits in its loss column at the end of the regular season.
Butka may be far away from his hometown in Lithuania, but the sophomore finds success on his home-court in Malibu. Butka has eclipsed 4.5 rebounds in five straight appearances at Firestone Fieldhouse, averaging 7.6 rebounds per game. So, why am I fading him tonight?
Well, the Beavers are one of the most lethal programs on the glass. Oregon State is allowing 28.8 total rebounds per game (ranked fourth) and carry a relentless attack that allows opponents just 18.7 defensive rebounds per game (ranked second). Butka hasn't met a team up to this calibre all season and it's going to show on the stat sheet tonight.
Preview: USC Trojans vs Maryland Terrapins, 8:30 p.m. ET
Quite the travel for USC who fly over five hours to Maryland, the Trojans largest travel this season. The Terrapins have held steady the last month, going 7-1 SU.
Giving up 72.9 PPG, the Trojans defensive efforts sit mid-pack in college basketball. Rice has been consistent the past three weeks, averaging 18 points across his last six outings. He's overcame better or equivalent offenses to USC, maintaining his point average against Wisconsin, Ohio State and Nebraska.
The sophomore has cashed the OVER on 16.5 points and assists in five straight meetings hosted at XFINITY Center, posting 19.8 points/assists in that timeline.
