  • The No. 3-seeded Texas Tech Red Raiders will tip off vs the No. 1 Villanova Wildcats in the Elite Eight and attempt to make their first Final Four in school history. TTU trounced Purdue in the Sweet 16 and now gets the pleasure of facing the highest-scoring team in the country in Villanova. The Wildcats are riding an eight-game win streak and opened as 6.5-point favorites to survive and advance.

    Villanova got a bit of a scare vs West Virginia in its Sweet 16 game but its offense proved to be too much for the Mountaineers as the Wildcats won 90-78 and earned their seventh straight victory by double digits. Jalen Brunson notched 27 points and Villanova shot 54 percent from three-point range to push the Wildcats to their sixth Elite Eight appearance in school history. Spread bettors should feel confident in wagering on the Wildcats as they’re 5-1 ATS in their last six games as a favorite of 6.5 or more.

    As for Texas Tech, the conversation starts and ends with Keenan Evans. The senior guard is averaging just under 20 points per game over his last five and helped the Raiders pull off the 78-65 upset vs Purdue with 16 points and five assists.  Evans and company were masterful on the defensive end vs the Boilermakers and it has become TTU’s calling card as the Red Raiders have held teams to less than 70 points in all three of their NCAA tourney games. However, the betting trends do not bode well for the Raiders as they’re 1-10 SU and ATS in their last 11 games vs Big East teams.
