There’s Hype behind Washington heading into this season

For the first time in seven years, the Huskies are a ranked team coming out of the preseason. Washington opened the year at No. 25 in the AP poll and after a terrible first half in its season-Sportsbook game, it rallied for a 73-55 victory over Western Kentucky. The unranked Hilltoppers carried a nine-point lead into the half in that game but were outscored 46-19 in the second half having a hard time containing Noah Dickerson. The senior forward scored a game-high 18 points in the win, while adding six rebounds.

The Huskies did a good job maintaining possession in the triumph, turning the ball over just eight times, while outrebounding the Hilltoppers 39-33. The biggest area for concern for Washington in that game was its play beyond the arc, hitting just 20 percent of its three-point attempts in the match, going just 5-for-25 and overall from the floor it hit 40 percent of its shots.

Auburn flexed its muscles in its Sportsbook game

Similar to their counterparts, the Tigers were ranked in the preseason for the first time since they were ranked fourth to begin the 1999-2000 season -- they are ranked 11 to begin this year. Auburn is an experienced team and they were all flying in the season-opener against South Alabama as the Tigers ran up the score 101-58. All five starters scored double-digit points, with junior guard Jared Harper and sophomore forward Chuma Okeke sharing a team-high 20 points.

Auburn moved the ball around the court really well in that triumph as the team racked up 24 assists Sportsbook up clean looks from beyond the perimeter. They took advantage of the three-point line, taking 38 shots and hitting 18 of them for a 47.4 percentage while shooting 51.4 percent from the floor overall. The Tigers did a poor job of taking advantage of free points, though, going just 7-for-14 from the charity stripe.

Should you be on the UNDER tonight?

There are trends pointing towards the UNDER for tonight’s game but is it the smart bet? Sportsbook has the total Sportsbook at 150.5 points, Auburn and South Alabama went over that total with a combined score of 159, while Washington and Western Kentucky went under with a combined score of 128. Meanwhile, the total has gone UNDER in 16 of Washington’s last 20 road games with an average combined score of 145.25. However, Auburn looks like it’s going to play an up-tempo style of play this season and assuming Washington can shoot the ball better in tonight’s game I think the OVER is the better bet.

My Take on Washington vs Auburn

I like the OVER 150.5 points in tonight’s game. Washington was able to put up 73 points in its season-Sportsbook game despite shooting the ball horribly, hitting just 20 percent of its three-point attempts and just 40 percent from the floor overall. Meanwhile, Auburn showed its hand by playing a high-paced game that racked up 101 points, moving the ball around the court efficiently. I think both teams are going to want to test their skills against a ranked opponent and should go OVER 150.5 points with ease.
