  • Florida State was nearly brought to the brink of elimination against Florida Gulf Coast in its first game of the NCAAB tournament. And though the Seminoles ultimately won, they have some concerns that need to be addressed before they take on Xavier on Saturday.

    FSU turned the ball over a lot, shot an abysmal 2-for-13 from deep, struggled at the charity stripe and watched a late double-digit lead evaporate against FGCU. However, it wasn’t all bad thanks to the Seminoles’ dominant play in the paint, as the team shot 55.6 overall and had a plus-20 rebound differential. Dwayne Bacon certainly did his part, with the guard notching 25 points and nine rebounds while shooting 64.7 percent from the field.

    If you ever needed a case for shooters shoot, look no further than Trevon Bluiett’s performance against Maryland in the Sportsbook round. The guard missed his first seven shots and had just three points entering halftime but, not to be discouraged, Bluiett went 6-for-7 with 18 points in the second half. The Musketeers were impressive defensively against the Terps, as Xavier held Maryland to 40.7 percent from the field and 25.9 percent from deep.
