Aggies’ Road Struggles Continue In Turnover-Filled Loss At Mississippi State

Turnovers were the Aggies’ undoing last week at Mississippi State, especially in the red zone. Two promising Texas A&M drives ended with fumbles inside the Bulldogs’ 20, and the Aggies also threw two interceptions — one that was returned for a touchdown. Texas A&M also had a field goal blocked and returned 50 yards for a major in the 42-24 loss.

To make matters worse, quarterback Max Johnson left the game in the fourth quarter with a hand injury. Although Johnson completed 18 of 25 passes for 201 yards, he was under duress most of the game, getting sacked four times.

The loss was the Aggies’ third straight on the road, where they’re 0-3 ATS during that stretch. Texas A&M has also lost 14 of its last 16 games as an underdog and eight of its last nine meetings with the Tide.

Alabama QB’s Status Uncertain After Leaving Last Game With Shoulder Injury

Before you bet on this game, make sure to check on the status of Alabama quarterback Bryce Young. The Heisman Trophy contender’s status was uncertain as of Monday after he left last week’s 49-26 win at Arkansas with a sprained shoulder, although coach Nick Saban told reporters the injury wasn’t serious and indicated Young might be fine by this weekend.

Without Young for most of the game, Alabama’s offense sputtered at times against Arkansas, generating minus-1 total yards of offense in the third quarter as Arkansas rallied from a 28-0 deficit to pull within 28-23. However, the Tide regained their footing in the fourth thanks to a 77-yard run by backup quarterback Jalen Milroe and a pair of long touchdown runs by Jahmyr Gibbs.

Aggies: Keys To Win

After struggling badly in the first month of the season, the Aggies offense looked a lot better last week, generating 27 first downs and nearly 400 total yards. If Texas A&M can get similar production this week while taking better care of the ball, the Aggies might be able to keep things close.

Crimson Tide: Keys To Win

The Tide showed last week that they can win without Young, running for more than 300 yards as a team. Alabama is also incredibly tough to beat at home, where it has won its last 41 straight overall and is 15-3 ATS in its last 18 as a favorite.
